2FA (Two-Factor Authentication) is an additional layer of security for your server.
I personally wanted a 2FA plugin, however the ones that were publicly available lacked core features that I wanted. I ended up simply learning a quick API and implementing it manually.
Setting up 2FA on your server is extremely simple, simply drag the plugin and give everyone you want to be required to use 2FA the permission basic.2fa. This will prompt them to link their authentication app (Google Authenticator, Authy, and any other 2FA app will work) with a QR code.
In the case where someone forgets, loses, or otherwise is unable to get their code (trust me, it happens), you can reset player's 2FA code with /2fa reset [player]. The permission to reset other's 2fa is basic.2fa.others.
The plugin accepts the code either with /2fa (code) or simply in chat. It does not matter whether or not the space is part of the code. You can also change the default ServerName@%player% that pops up when players scan the QR code.
Once a player logs in, they will be signed in for 24 hours, if their IP changes then they'll have to re-verify.
2FA Prevents players from
- Chatting
- Moving
- Using commands (other than /2fa)
- Switching hotbar items
- Placing/Breaking Blocks
- Interacting with blocks
- Taking/Dealing damage
All messages are customizable.
