Alloys 1.0.109 — The bows were fibbing

![Replace this with a description](https://cdn.modrinth.com/data/cached_images/00ce0367bf58f… TL;DR: Last public drop was 1.0.85. Alloy ranged weapons were not putting their cool effects on arrows. 1.0.109 fixes that. Tipped arrows keep their brew and get the bow’s effect. Update → restart world → shoot a pig. Iron golems are immune to poison; they are not good test buddies. ---

    Okay but what actually happened?

Imagine you craft a nickel bow. It’s supposed to shoot poison arrows. You shoot a pig. The pig is fine. No green bubbles. Just vibes. That’s what life has been like since 1.0.85. The metal knew the spell. The arrow never learned it. 1.0.109 teaches the arrow. ---

What’s fixed (the adventure loot table)

When you shoot from these weapons, the arrow picks up the effect before it hits: | Weapon | What the target feels | |--------|------------------------| | Nickel bow | Poison | | Silver bow / crossbow | Glowing outline | | Astral bow / crossbow | Glowing outline | | Cobalt crossbow | Slowness | | Platinum crossbow | Zap damage | | Mythril crossbow | Fire | | Adamantine crossbow | Extra punch | Other alloy bows/crossbows? No ranged trick. That’s normal. Not every sword has to shoot lightning. ---

    Double potion power hour

![Replace this with a description](https://cdn.modrinth.com/data/cached_images/8df9c078e4fd9… You loaded a tipped arrow (regen, weakness, whatever you brewed). You expected: arrow effect + nickel poison. You got: only one or neither. Boo. Now: - Your tipped effect stays - The weapon adds its effect on top - No duplicate poison if it was already there — we’re not weird about it Try it: regen arrow + nickel bow → pig gets regen AND poison. Two effects. One shot. Chef’s kiss. ---

    How to install (quest steps)

    1. Grab Alloys.zip + alloys-plugin-1.0.109.jar 2. Put them on the server 3. Restart the world (seriously — /reload alone is not the move) 4. Delete Alloys.zip.version if that random file showed up next to the zip. Server ignores it. You should too. ---

    30-second victory lap

    1. /function alloys:give/nickel 2. Arrows in hotbar (plain or tipped — your call) 3. Find a pig or cow 4. Shoot 5. Green bubbles = you win ---

    Still the same as 1.0.85

Crafting, gear, enchants, armor, ores — untouched. This update is only about arrows flying true. --- Your scroll-goblin at the forge says: update installed? go bonk a pig. mathematical! ---

    Alloys 1.0.43 — Crafting fix (Minecraft 26.2)

Requires Minecraft 26.2 (datapack format 107.1). After updating, restart the world — do not rely on /reload alone.
This release fixes alloy tool and armor crafting so plain vanilla items can never become named alloy gear, while real alloy ingots always resolve into the correct item. ---

    What changed

    - All 110 gear recipes (10 alloys × 11 gear types) now use a safe crafting pipeline: unfinished paper token → datapack resolve → real gear or refund. _invalid items such as this will refund the original material(s)_ ![Replace this with a description](https://cdn.modrinth.com/data/cached_images/b4d43a751b5d4… _valid alloy ingots are used so this craft will "finish" properly_ ![Replace this with a description](https://cdn.modrinth.com/data/cached_images/6666539bc92ec… - Invalid crafts (plain firework rockets, nuggets, quartz, etc. without alloy data) no longer leave named alloy tools or armor in your inventory. - Valid crafts with real alloy ingots complete within about one game tick after you take the output. - Fraud crafts clear the unfinished paper and return the plain materials you actually used (carriers, sticks, string). ---

How crafting is supposed to work

    1. Make alloy ingots (materials → ingot)
    Ingot recipes are shapeless (except Astral). The result is immediate — no unfinished paper. A real {Alloy} Ingot always has: - The display name "{Alloy} Ingot" (e.g. Bronze Ingot) - Enchant glint - Gray lore (tier, recipe hint) - Alloy identity in item data (alloys_material, alloys_tier) | Alloy | Ingot looks like (vanilla item) | Craft from | |-------|----------------------------------|------------| | Tin | Firework star | 3 copper ingots + clay ball | | Bronze | Firework rocket | 3 copper ingots + 2 bricks | | Silver | Quartz | 2 iron ingots + coal + copper ingot | | Steel | Iron nugget | 2 iron ingots + 2 coal + brick | | Cobalt | Copper nugget | 2 iron ingots + 2 lapis + coal | | Nickel | Gold nugget | 2 iron ingots + gold nugget + copper ingot | | Platinum | Prismarine shard | 2 gold ingots + iron ingot + 2 amethyst shards | | Mythril | Prismarine crystals | 2 gold ingots + emerald + diamond | | Adamantine | Glowstone dust | 2 iron ingots + 2 diamonds + echo shard | | Astral | Nether star | 8 diamonds around netherite scrap (shaped) |
Ore alloys (Cobalt, Nickel, Mythril, Adamantine) can also be made from 9 matching alloy fragments in a 3×3 grid. Fragments are rare bonus drops from specific ores; normal ore drops are unchanged.
    ---
    2. Craft tools and armor (ingots → gear)
Use the normal vanilla layout for each tool or armor piece (same shapes as iron/diamond gear). Put real alloy ingots in the ingot slots — not plain vanilla copies. What you should see when it works: 1. You craft and take the output. 2. For a split second you may hold gray paper named "{Gear} (unfinished)" — that is expected. 3. Within 1–2 ticks, one of two things happens: - Correct: Named alloy gear appears; the paper is gone. - Wrong inputs: The paper is gone; your plain firework rockets / nuggets / quartz / etc. and sticks or string are refunded; a red chat message says you need alloy ingots. You should never end up with named alloy gear if you only used plain vanilla materials. ---
    3. Counterpart items (this is the important part)
Each alloy ingot reuses a vanilla item model so recipes do not clash on the crafting table. The item id alone is not enough. | If you see this vanilla item… | It is only an alloy ingot when… | |------------------------------|----------------------------------| | Firework star | Named Tin Ingot, glint, alloy lore | | Firework rocket | Named Bronze Ingot, glint, alloy lore | | Quartz | Named Silver Ingot, glint, alloy lore | | Iron nugget | Named Steel Ingot, glint, alloy lore | | Copper nugget | Named Cobalt Ingot, glint, alloy lore | | Gold nugget | Named Nickel Ingot, glint, alloy lore | | Prismarine shard | Named Platinum Ingot, glint, alloy lore | | Prismarine crystals | Named Mythril Ingot, glint, alloy lore | | Glowstone dust | Named Adamantine Ingot, glint, alloy lore | | Nether star | Named Astral Ingot, glint, alloy lore |
Plain fireworks, nuggets, quartz, or stars from creative or loot do not count as alloy ingots, even if the recipe shape lights up.

    Do / Don't (quick reference)

    Do
    - Do craft ingots first, then use those named, glinting ingots for gear. - Do use /function alloys:give/<alloy> (or the optional plugin /alloys give) to get a correct test kit. - Do wait a tick after taking gear output if you briefly see unfinished paper. - Do restart the world after installing or updating the datapack. - Do install the Alloys resource pack if you want unique textures (optional; stats work without it).
    Don't
    - Don't put plain firework rockets / iron nuggets / nether stars in a gear recipe and expect alloy gear — you should get a refund, not equipment. - Don't assume every firework rocket or nugget in the world is an alloy ingot — check the name and glint. - Don't mix one plain carrier with real ingots in the same craft (e.g. seven steel ingots + one plain iron nugget) — treat as invalid; no named gear. - Don't use /reload as the only step after swapping the zip; functions and recipes need a full world restart. - Don't expect the optional Paper plugin to “fix” crafting — exclusivity lives in the datapack only. ---

    Vanilla recipe abuse

If you use a real alloy ingot in a vanilla recipe that expects the same vanilla item id (for example, a bronze ingot shaped like a firework rocket in a non-Alloys recipe), the datapack may cancel the result and refund your alloy ingots. That is intentional.
    ---

    Install & test checklist

    1. Copy Alloys.zip into world/datapacks/ and enable it. 2. Restart the world. 3. Run /function alloys:give/bronze (or any alloy). 4. Craft a bronze pickaxe with kit ingots → brief unfinished paper → Bronze Pickaxe, paper removed. 5. Craft again with plain firework rockets + sticks → unfinished paper → paper removed, rockets and sticks refunded, no Bronze Pickaxe. If step 4 leaves stuck unfinished paper, or step 5 gives named alloy gear, you are not on 1.0.43 or the world was not fully restarted. ---

    Optional Paper plugin

The plugin adds guidebook, recipe browser, and command shortcuts. It does not control whether crafts are valid — the datapack does. Crafting behavior should match with or without the plugin JAR.
