Description:
Have you ever wanted to say hello or welcome people to the server but been too lazy to actually do so? Is your server full of antisocial people who never say hello to each other? Well, Auto Welcome can solve both of those issues. It is a fully customizable plugin which will allow players to toggle a command to force them to chat when a player joins. There is an option to allow players to change their own welcome message and permissions to go with the toggle and message editing command.
Versions:
The plugin is fully tested on 1.12, however, the methods used should work on any version and I will test more when I get a chance.
Installation:
The installation for this is very simple. Download the jar file and place it into your plugins folder, start your server, configure the plugin to your liking and finally restart your server or reload the plugin!
Permissions:
> autowelcome.toggle | /aw or /welcome
> autowelcome.editmessage | /setwelcome <message>
Config:
The config provides means to customize Auto Welcome to its fullest potential. A copy can be found below.
# This will change whether or not players can change the message sent.
allowMessageEditing: true
# Messages
# Color codes are untested. I am not sure their compatibility with different chat plugins.
defaultMessage: 'Welcome to the server! If you need any help, type /help. If you have another question, feel free to ask.'
enabledMessage: '&2Automatic Welcoming has been enabled.'
disabledMessage: '&cAutomatic Welcoming has been disabled.'
# This will be the message if they have never enabled the message before.
enabledFirstMessage: '&2Automatic Messaging has been enabled for the first time.'
# Note: This will be added if 'allowMessageEditing' is set to true. A space will automatically be added.
enabledFirstEditCmdAddon: '&8Do &6/setwelcome <message> to set a custom welcome message.'
# This will be the message sent when a player changes their welcome message.
SetMessageSuccess: '&2You have successfully changed your welcome message.'
# Other Settings
# Setting this to true will force players to send the welcome message.
autoAW: false
# Setting this to true will stop players from disabling the welcome message.
# Note: Without 'autoAW' set to true, this will have no effect.
forceAW: false
# This is the message sent when a player attempts to disable auto welcome but is denied due to 'forceAW'
disableDeny: '&cYou may not disable auto welcome!'
# Storage for messages. This can be safely ignored.

Known Issues:
> Currently using names rather than UUIDs.
> The config does not automatically get updated so it is needed to delete it or copy the new options in.
Future Plans:
These may be implemented if people would like to see them:
> The ability for server owners to force players to welcome people. Done
> Support for a different message to players who have never joined before.
> Support for different messages when certain players join. User customizable.
