BookLecterns

1.12.2-1

remotely view books through a multi-block structure

·Plugin

Minecraft 1.14's Lectern kinda made this obsolete :p Check out my successor to this plugin: BookShelves

Description

BookLecterns allows players to create simple structures in their world that can be used to view a collection of written books without needing to own a copy of them!

While this is a light-weight plugin, it can be a nice way to interact with the lore of a town or quest-- especially in a survival setting. When paired with a chest protection plugin, it is an excellent way to display books without having to worry about them being misplaced or stolen!

Creating the Lectern
The Lectern structure is formed from an enchantment table with a sign placed on its side titled "[Lectern]". The sign will turn blue and you will be able to interact with the Lectern GUI by clicking either the sign or the enchantment table. To supply the books, place item-frames / chests adjacent to the table.

  • The bottom three lines of the lectern sign can be used to customize the title of the GUI.
  • If only one book is supplied, it will be displayed automatically.
  • Players can be restricted from using lecterns with the node -lecterns.use
  • Players can be restricted from creating lecterns with the node -lecterns.create
  • Players can be permitted to create a lectern on any block with the node lecterns.anyblock

To disable the lectern, simply remove the sign.
Use the in-game command /lecterns for generic plugin help & info.
Operators may use
/lecterns reload to reload the configuration file (via the node lecterns.reload )

Additional Info
Although it is a small plugin, it requires ProtocolLib as a dependency. Place the ProtocolLib jar in your plugins folder so that BookLecterns will be able to load!

If you have any suggestions or if you appreciate this, please leave a comment! =)
