  1. 3.4.1latestRelease 3.4.1Sep 25, 2026
Boxed 3.4.1 is a maintenance release. It fixes a crash that could stop Boxed from enabling on first boot, makes the NO_MOBS option of /boxadmin place usable, and updates Boxed to BentoBox 3.17.0. ## Highlights No more "contloc out of spec" crash on enable*: Boxed no longer fails to load when Minecraft's biome noise returns a continentalness value outside the expected range. `/boxadmin place ... NO_MOBS` works*: admins can now place a structure with its built-in mobs suppressed. BentoBox 3.17.0*: Boxed is now built against BentoBox 3.17.0. ## Bug Fixes Boxed skipped during enable with `contloc out of spec`*: when the seed world was copied on first boot, opening a loot chest could roll an explorer map. That map searched for structures far outside the seed area, where continentalness can go below -1.2. That value matched no band, so the lookup threw an error and BentoBox skipped Boxed. Values below or above the nominal range now fall into the outermost bands (mushroom fields and far inland). [[PR #136](https://github.com/BentoBoxWorld/Boxed/pull/136)] Fixes [#135](https://github.com/BentoBoxWorld/Boxed/issues/135) `NO_MOBS` argument rejected by `/boxadmin place`*: the argument-count check rejected a 7th argument before the NO_MOBS option could be read. The option is now accepted, and it no longer carries over into later placements. Seed biome selection at erosion level 5*: missing parentheses in a humidity check caused the wrong biome to be picked in some erosion level 5 areas. This only affects seed worlds generated after the upgrade. Existing worlds are unchanged. [[PR #133](https://github.com/BentoBoxWorld/Boxed/pull/133)] ## Other Improvements Clearer `area.deaths` config comments*: the comments now explain which death settings affect island levels in Level 2.29.0 and later, and which only affect BentoBox's own death counter and the %boxed_deaths% placeholder. Only comments changed. No options were added or renamed. [[PR #134](https://github.com/BentoBoxWorld/Boxed/pull/134)] Code quality*: SonarCloud issues were resolved across the codebase. Deprecated biome registry lookups were replaced, the seed biome logic was simplified, and dead code was removed. Test coverage was expanded (170 tests). [[PR #133](https://github.com/BentoBoxWorld/Boxed/pull/133)] Documentation*: the README now explains how to use a custom map as the seed world, and documents BentoBox's native region deletion. Regionerator is no longer the main recommendation. Publishing*: releases are now published automatically to CurseForge and Hangar as well as Modrinth, and the Modrinth game-version list has been updated. [[PR #128](https://github.com/BentoBoxWorld/Boxed/pull/128)] [[PR #129](https://github.com/BentoBoxWorld/Boxed/pull/129)] ## Compatibility ✔️ BentoBox API 3.17.0 ✔️ Paper 1.21.x – 26.1.x ✔️ Java 21 ## Upgrading 1. Take a backup. 2. Stop your server. 3. Replace the old Boxed jar in plugins/BentoBox/addons with this release. 4. Ensure BentoBox is 3.17.0 or newer. 5. 2. 3.4.0Release 3.4.0May 30, 2026
Boxed 3.4.0 brings support for Trial Chambers and their trial spawners, fixes cross-game-mode advancement resets, and modernises the entire build and test stack for Paper 1.21.11 / BentoBox 3.13.0. ## Highlights Trial Chambers support — Boxed now captures and restores Trial Spawner state (including the normal and* ominous configurations) when structures are pulled from the seed world into a player's box, and recognises trial_chambers as a tracked structure. No more cross-game-mode progress loss — Boxed no longer clears a player's advancements and statistics when an island is reset in a different*, non-Boxed game mode. Modernised build & test stack* — upgraded to Paper 1.21.11 and BentoBox 3.13.0, with the test suite migrated to JUnit 5 + Mockito + MockBukkit. ## New Features ### Trial Chambers & Trial Spawners Trial Chambers can now appear inside player boxes. When a box is generated from the seed world, Boxed copies the Trial Spawner tile-entity data so the spawners function correctly, preserving whether each spawner is in its normal or ominous configuration. Trial Chambers are also tracked for advancement-driven box growth. [[PR #123](https://github.com/BentoBoxWorld/Boxed/pull/123)] ## Bug Fixes Advancement/statistic reset leaked across game modes* — IslandNewIslandEvent handling now no-ops unless the reset island belongs to a Boxed world, so resetting an island in another game mode no longer wipes Boxed progress. [[PR #125](https://github.com/BentoBoxWorld/Boxed/pull/125)] Structure pasting into deleted islands* — pending structure pastes are now cancelled when an island is deleted, preventing structures being placed into a box that no longer exists. Ominous trial spawners restored incorrectly* — trial spawners now restore the correct configuration rather than always applying the normal one. ## Other Improvements Test suite migration* — replaced the PowerMock-based setup with JUnit 5 (Jupiter), Mockito mockStatic, and MockBukkit, and expanded coverage with new listener and placeholder tests (113 tests). Reliable test dependency* — MockBukkit is now pinned to the stable Maven Central artifact org.mockbukkit.mockbukkit:mockbukkit-v1.21:4.110.0 instead of a floating jitpack snapshot that could break the build without any code change. Documentation* — the README now documents Flags, Placeholders, structures.yml, config options, and Regionerator usage. [[PR #124](https://github.com/BentoBoxWorld/Boxed/pull/124)] ## Compatibility ✔️ BentoBox API 3.13.0 ✔️ Paper 1.21.x – 26.1.x ✔️ Java 21 ## Upgrading 1. Stop your server. 2. Replace the old Boxed jar in plugins/BentoBox/addons with this release. 3. Ensure BentoBox is 3.13.0 or newer. 4. Start the server.
Note: Trial Chambers are captured from the seed world when a box is generated, so boxes created before 3.4.0 will not retroactively gain Trial Chambers. New boxes (and newly expanded regions) will include them.
