GodMode includes a documented config.yml with configurable messages and optional features.
Legacy Minecraft color codes using & are supported.
Optional settings include:
persistence:
enabled: false
god-mode:
heal-on-enable: false
feed-on-enable: false
update-checker:
enabled: true
notify-admins: true
When persistence is enabled, God mode states are stored using player UUIDs and restored after server restarts.
Updating from GodMode 2.x
GodMode 3.0 can be installed directly over GodMode 2.x.
Existing god-msg and ungod-msg values are automatically migrated to the new configuration format, including custom multi-line messages.
Before migration, GodMode automatically creates a backup:
plugins/GodMode/config-v2-backup.yml
The new configuration is then generated using the current 3.0 template so the comments and layout remain clean.
Compatibility
GodMode 3.0 is designed to support Minecraft 1.7.10 through modern Minecraft versions using the same plugin JAR.
The exact same GodMode 3.0 JAR has been tested successfully on:
- 1.7.10
- 1.8.8
- 1.12.2
- 1.16.5
- 1.20.1
- 1.21.11
- 26.2
- 26.3
GodMode is compiled as Java 8-compatible bytecode.
The Java version required to run the server itself still depends on the Minecraft/server version being used.
GodMode intentionally does not declare an api-version in plugin.yml so the same JAR can remain compatible with legacy Minecraft versions. Modern server software may therefore display a legacy-plugin warning during startup.
Metrics
GodMode uses bStats to collect anonymous usage statistics.
GodMode 3.0 continues using the original GodMode bStats project ID, preserving the project's existing metrics history.
Server administrators can disable bStats globally through the standard bStats configuration.
Open Source
GodMode is open-source under the MIT License.
