Players die, and it is sad. When they are your friends, it's hard, because you want to help them recover their stuff.
Except when they don't know where they died, or you don't believe they were carrying 4 stacks of 64 diamonds, or they died in Lava, and you will have to recreate their full suit of magical diamond armor.
Run the creation command to create the space (in a specific location), for the "DeathBoxes", using a lower XYZ corner and an upper XYZ corner, and it creates a room of sea-lantern walls to take up the space. I built mine underground, at the spawn point, and protected it with GriefPrevention claims.
/createdeathboxes -40 2 -40 40 30 40
For sizing, a single chest takes up a 3-block cubic area (3x3x3). Make your DeathBox room 100x100x40, and it should capture roughly 9000 deaths. Every once in a while, you'll have to clean out the room (manually, or fill a fill command, etc).
After creating this location, any time a player dies for any reason, anywhere... their stuff drops like normal, but a copy of their stuff goes neatly into a new box, marked with "DeathBox", their character name, date and time of death.
Little Suzie cries because she lost her stuff? TP here, get her stuff, TP to her, and hand it to her.
Enjoy!
