1.4False-Positive Reduction: Mining Heuristics, Trust Tiers, & Calibration ModeJun 28, 2026 Medusa Anti-Xray v1.4.0 The False-Positive Reduction Update We are excited to announce the release of v1.4.0 for Medusa Anti-Xray! This update focuses heavily on False-Positive Reduction, introducing smart heuristics, grace periods, and baseline data-calibration tools to help you minimize false flags on legitimate players while maintaining high detection sensitivity for actual xrayers. What's New? · Dynamic Mining-Style Classification Medusa now analyzes the spatial patterns of block-breaks (specifically Y-coordinate variance and ore-to-filler ratios) to classify players into distinct styles: CAVE explorers, STRIP miners, or BRANCH miners. Thresholds are dynamically adjusted based on these styles (e.g., natural cave explorers who naturally mine more exposed ores are granted relaxed thresholds, while strip miners are monitored more closely). ·
Teleport Cooldown Grace Period Prevents false flags when staff members teleport to players to observe them or when players use teleportation commands (/home, /warp, /tp). Players are exempt from suspicion scoring for a configurable duration (default: 10 seconds) immediately following a teleport event. · Learning & Baseline Calibration Mode Not sure what alert threshold to set? Turn on the new Learning Mode! It will passively sample the average ore-to-filler ratios across your server over a duration (e.g., 24 hours), suppress all alerts, and output recommended alert thresholds tailored to your specific world generation and player base. · ️ Granular Trust Tiers Instead of a binary "bypass or scan" system, you can now configure trust multipliers. Trusted veterans or players in certain permission groups can be given a lower suspicion sensitivity multiplier (e.g., Code (Text): 0.5 multiplier means they require twice as much suspicion to trigger an alert). Controlled via permission nodes or explicit UUID config listings. ·
Mine-Gap Suspicion Metric Xrayers typically beeline from vein to vein, leading to rapid successive ore breaks, whereas honest miners encounter ores at a slower, more natural pace. The new mine-gap multiplier amplifies the weight of ore breaks when mined in tight chronological succession.
New Configuration Additions Add the following options to your Code (Text): config.yml under their respective sections: Code (Text): detection: # C5 — Mine-gap multiplier (vein-first-discovery time metric) # Amplifies suspicion when ores are found in rapid succession mine-gap-multiplier: enabled: true min-gap-ms: 3000 # Gap <= this gets max-multiplier max-gap-ms: 120000 # Gap >= this gets 1.0 (no multiplier) max-multiplier: 2.0 # Multiplier applied at min-gap # C2 — Mining-style classification # Infers style (cave, branch, strip) and adjusts threshold sensitivity style-multipliers: enabled: true cave: 0.6 # Cave miners: threshold relaxed (0.08 / 0.6 ≈ 0.133) branch: 1.0 # Default strip: 1.1 # Strip miners: slightly more suspicious unknown: 1.0 false-positive-guards: # C1 — Seconds to exempt a player from detection after teleporting (0 = disabled) teleport-cooldown-seconds: 10 # C4 — Trust tiers & player whitelist # Multiplier scales the final suspicion score (lower = less sensitive) trust: default: 1.0 perm-multipliers: medusa.trust.high: 0.25 medusa.trust.medium: 0.5 medusa.trust.low: 0.75 players: {} # C3 — Learning / baseline calibration mode # Samples ratios to recommend thresholds; suppresses alerts during active calibration learning-mode: enabled: false duration-minutes: 1440 # 24 hours log-output: true persist: true recommend-percentile: 99 ️ Commands & Permissions · Command: Code (Text): /medusa trust <get|set> <player> [multiplier] (Permission: Code (Text): medusa.admin ) Allows operators to get or adjust a player's trust multiplier in real-time. · Permissions Added: · Code (Text): medusa.trust.high (default multiplier: 0.25) · Code (Text): medusa.trust.medium (default multiplier: 0.5) · Code (Text): medusa.trust.low (default multiplier: 0.75) Thank you for using Medusa Anti-Xray! 1.3MedusaAntiXray v1.3.0: Vein & Depth Accuracy UpdateJun 26, 2026 MedusaAntiXray v1.2.0 - Release Notes We are pleased to announce the release of MedusaAntiXray v1.2.0. This update, focused on Detection Accuracy, introduces a series of enhancements to the core statistical model. These changes are designed to improve signal accuracy, refine the scoring heuristics, and significantly reduce false positives. Key Features & Enhancements · Y-Level / Depth Normalization (B1) Mining tracked ores at optimal distribution layers (e.g., Diamond Ore at Y=-58) is mathematically normalized to carry less suspicion, whereas mining ores at improbable depths will carry a higher suspicion weight. This is managed via per-ore depth profile configurations. · Ore-Vein Grouping / Vein Awareness (B2) Contiguous ore blocks of the same type broken in rapid succession are now grouped and treated as a single vein event. The suspicion weight is distributed across the vein size using a configurable decay or division mode, preventing large natural veins from generating false-positive alerts. · Per-Ore Configurable Weights (B3) Replaced global flat weight defaults with custom, per-ore configurations. Each tracked ore can now have its own unique hidden and exposed weight values, allowing administrators to prioritize suspicion scoring for high-value targets like Diamond Ore and Ancient Debris. · Tool & Enchantment Awareness (B4) The plugin now evaluates the player's active tool type and enchantments. Legitimate mining equipment, such as tools with Silk Touch or Fortune, applies positive scoring multipliers, while mining valuable ores using basic, unenchanted tools applies a configurable penalty. · Graduated Exposure & Light Refinement (B5) Replaced binary exposure checks with a graduated exposure score. The heuristic counts the number of exposed faces on the ore block and applies a light-level penalty (such as sky light) to lower the suspicion score of ores exposed naturally or on the surface. · End World Support (B6) Extended tracking capabilities to the End dimension. Support has been added for tracking blocks such as Obsidian, End Stone Bricks, Purpur Blocks, and Chests in End-specific environments. Configuration Additions To utilize the new features, update your config.yml to include the following configuration parameters: Code (YAML): detection: depth-normalization: enabled : true default-multiplier : 1.0 profiles: DIAMOND_ORE: - y-min : -64 y-max : -54 multiplier : 0.5 - y-min : -53 y-max : 320 multiplier : 2.0 DEEPSLATE_DIAMOND_ORE: - y-min : -64 y-max : -54 multiplier : 0.5 - y-min : -53 y-max : 320 multiplier : 2.0 vein-grouping: enabled : true max-distance : 3 timeout-ticks : 100 mode : "divide" tool-modifiers: enabled : true silk-touch-multiplier : 0.5 fortune-multiplier-per-level : 0.8 no-enchantments-multiplier : 1.2 exposure-scoring: enabled : true sky-light-penalty : 0.5 hidden-threshold-faces : 1 worlds: end: enabled : false names : - "world_the_end" tracked-ores : - OBSIDIAN - END_STONE_BRICKS - PURPUR_BLOCK - CHEST filler-blocks : - END_STONE Upgrade Instructions · Shut down the Minecraft server instance. · Replace the existing plugin jar in the plugins directory with the new version. · Update the configuration file with the new parameters listed above. · Restart the server to apply the update.1.2Ironclad FoundationJun 25, 2026 v1.1 — Ironclad Foundation This update is a pure stability release - no new detection features, just a hardened and more reliable foundation. If you're running v1.0, this upgrade is strongly recommended. Bug Fixes & Thread-Safety · Fixed a concurrency defect where the block-exposure check (isBlockExposed) was being called from an async task. Reading world/chunk state off the main thread is unsafe in Paper and could produce incorrect exposure results or, in rare cases, cause server instability. The check now always runs on the main thread. · Fixed a race condition where events mined between a player joining and their data loading from the database could be silently dropped. The merge logic now correctly preserves any blocks broken during the load window. · Prevented duplicate database loads for the same player on rapid rejoin scenarios. ️ Database Improvements · Data retention policy - A scheduled task now automatically purges events older than a configurable number of days (default: 30), preventing unbounded table growth over time. Set database.retention.days: 0 to disable. · Database failure fallback - If the database is unavailable at startup (e.g. MySQL host unreachable), the plugin now clearly logs that it is running in memory-only mode and how long until the next reconnect attempt. It will automatically reconnect and resume full persistence once the database becomes available again, without requiring a server restart. Configure with database.retry-interval-seconds (default: 120).Config Validation The plugin now validates your config.yml on every startup and reload. If a value is out of range, a Material name is misspelled, or an unsupported database type is set, a clear [WARNING] will appear in your console pointing directly to the problem. No more silent fallbacks to defaults with no explanation. As always, please report any issues on the discussion thread or via GitHub Issues. Thank you for your support!
