pkWaystones Companion (Bedrock Compatibility)
v1.3pkWaystones Companion is a Paper plugin that provides Bedrock client compatibility for Kawamood's Waystones datapack via Geyser/Floodgate.
v1.3latestlast week Support for Kawamood's Waystones datapack 3.6.1+ added.
New features
- Proper Waystone Models — Waystones now appear as proper 3D models for Bedrock players. These are created with the block sections attached to an invisible armor stand. These new models function just like the original java versions in that they allow proper attachment of things like torches and even allow snow to collect on the top of the Waystones. There are three models and four options to choose from; classic, legacy, modern, and default. - classic — a model reminiscent of the original models I used for this plugin. - legacy — mimics Kawamood's legacy models from the Waystones datapack. - modern — mimics Kawamood's modern models from the Waystones datapack. - default — sets the Waystones to represent the Waystone models that are set in the Waystones datapack. Note that changes to the datapack are not immediate and will take effect the next time a Bedrock player loads a chunk. You can set the models in the config.yml or ingame by typing _/pkcom set waystones_ followed by _classic_, _legacy_, _modern_, or _default_. - Customize The Waystone Inventory Screen — two options to choose from; classic and legacy. - classic — the inventory screen native to Bedrock. - legacy — mimics the java inventory screen by swapping the glass panes to look closer to what Java players see. You can set which inventory screen to use in the config.yml or ingame by typing _/pkcom set interface_ followed by _classic_ or _legacy_.Changes
- Removed my recipe workaround due to recipes from the datapack show now that the Waystones are using glowing item frames as placeholders instead of being player heads. - Repurposed the icons that were used for my recipes to Kawamood's recipes and inventory icons so that they aren't showing up as glowing item frames for Bedrock players. - Packetevents is used to reassign held and dropped Waystones back to the player heads for Bedrock players so that they're not showing up as glowing item frames.v1.2Jul 14, 2026 New feature
- Bedrock recipe book support — added proxy recipes for Bedrock players, replacing the Java-side recipes with equivalents Bedrock can actually display. Includes a small resource pack the plugin generates and installs into Geyser's folder automatically, since Bedrock needs real icon textures to show these in the recipe book.Bug fixes
- Torches and other attachable blocks/items can now be placed on any side of the Waystone by Bedrock players — this was previously unreliable, and even when it appeared to work, it was never actually confirmed server-side (the item would vanish if the player relogged). - Sneaking now lets Bedrock players place a block/item on top of the Waystone, same as Java players. - The carpet visual now properly restores when a block/item placed on top of the Waystone is removed. - Waystone visuals now properly refresh for bystanders whenever any player (Java or Bedrock) interacts with the Waystone — previously only the interacting player's own client stayed in sync. - The top of the Waystone can now be clicked through to open its inventory, matching how the sides already worked. - Major bug fix (Linux) — fixed a bug where the plugin failed to write its datapack hooks to the world folder on certain server setups, which silently broke the plugin's integration with Kawamood's Waystones entirely. - Major bug fix (performance) — fixed a bug where interacting with Waystones could force-load distant, unrelated chunks, causing severe lag (high MSPT) on servers with many Waystones spread across the map.v1.1Jun 8, 2026 New features
- All 10 variant textures are registered to geyser's custom-skulls.yml so Waystone items render correctly on Bedrock instead of appearing as Steve heads. - Waystones can now be properly broken. When hitting the Waystone above the base, you'll see the barrel blink into existence and start to take damage. If you continue hitting then it'll break. If you stop before it's broken then it'll have the proper visuals reappear. - Companion datapack — a small datapack will now be written to the world folder. This allows the plugin to hook into the public hooks available in Kawamood's Waystones datapack. The purpose is to properly provide Waystone destination icons without having to rely on timers. The removal of the timers eliminates a bug where the Waystone's inventory GUI would sometimes auto close.Bug fixes
- Attack on the slab at ground level, the wall at the base, and the carpet on top now correctly cancels and restores visuals (was previously set to use only). - The carpet visual on top is now skipped if a real block already occupies that position. - The ground level slab and the carpet on top are now properly removed when a Waystone is broken. - _/pkcom set visuals true/false_ now immediately pushes fake blocks or restores real blocks for all online Bedrock players. - The pk_waystones.json cache file had unnecessary fields removed, running _/pkcom sync_ will update it. - Teleport destination visuals now pushed for already-loaded chunks. Previously, if you teleported somewhere and then back within 10 seconds or if the Waystones were in the same chunk then the visuals wouldn't get updated. - The wall at the base of the Waystone no longer disappears when the Waystone's inventory opens. - Floodgate and Geyser-Spigot moved from softdepend to depend so the plugin won't try to load without them.v1.0May 24, 2026 Initial Release
