RangeBan allows operators and users with the right permissions to ban and unban CIDR IP-ranges.
The bans are handled through the banIP() function in Spigot and are added to the banned-ips.json file. Joins are not intercepted by this plugin (this might change in the future).
CIDR notation looks like this: x.x.x.x/x. The first part of the range is the base IP-address, the x after the slash defines the size of the range, where 32 is one IP-address, doubling each time it gets lowered by 1.
For instance 127.0.0.1/31 contains:
- 127.0.0.1
- 127.0.0.2
And 127.0.0.1/29 contains:
- 127.0.0.1
- 127.0.0.2
- 127.0.0.3
- 127.0.0.4
- 127.0.0.5
- 127.0.0.6
- 127.0.0.7
- 127.0.0.8
You can read more about CIDR notation on Wikipedia.
