Waystones
Release-7.8-26.2.xLightweight teleportation plugin for Paper/Spigot/Purpur, server alternative to the Waystones mod
Release-7.8-26.2.xlatestWaystones Release-7.8-26.2.xAug 14, 2026 Version 7.8 — Crash fix (companion teleportation) + jar naming correction
A real bug this time, caught within a day of v7.7 going live — thank you to everyone who reported crash logs.
Crash fix
- Teleporting with a leashed pet nearby (a feature added in v7.6) could crash the plugin on some servers with aNoClassDefFoundError, disabling Waystones entirely until a restart - Cause: an internal reference to the wrong package for a game API class — it compiled fine locally but failed at runtime on some server software builds - Fixed by removing the fragile reference entirely; leashed-pet detection now works the same way regardless of server software or version, with no server-specific code path to keep in sync going forwardJar file naming corrected
- The generated jar is now named `Waystones-Release-7.8-26.2.x.jar` (with an "s"), matching the plugin's actual name everywhere else (in-game, commands, this page) - Every previous release (back to the very first public version) shipped asWaystone-...(no "s") due to a long-standing inconsistency in the build configuration — this is now corrected going forward - No functional change: if you're upgrading, just drop the new jar in and remove the old one, same as any other update
- Minor version bump (7.7 → 7.8) — a bug fix and a build correction, no new feature - Generated jar: `Waystones-Release-7.8-26.2.x.jar` (note the corrected filename, see above) - Still 26.2.x only, like every v6.x/v7.x releaseNaming
Release-7.7-26.2.xWaystones Release-7.7-26.2.xAug 12, 2026 Version 7.7 — Internal refactor + update checker fix
Another round of cleanup after the v7.6 bundle, plus a small but real bug fix in the update notification.
What changed under the hood
- The Dynmap/BlueMap/Squaremap integrations shared a lot of near-identical code (color code cleanup, popup text building, event wiring) — now factored into a single shared base class, so each integration only contains what's actually specific to its map - Three nearly-identical startup blocks (one per map integration) consolidated into one small, reusable checkBug fix: false "update available" notice
- The update checker used to compare version strings by simple equality — any difference, including comparing against an older published version, would incorrectly trigger "a new version is available" - It now compares version numbers properly, and only flags an update when the published version is genuinely newerWhat didn't change
- Every command, permission, message, and behavior works exactly as before — this release touches internals only - Noconfig.ymlorwaystones.ymlformat changes, no migration needed, safe to update directly
- Minor version bump (7.6 → 7.7) — internal cleanup and a bug fix, no new feature - Generated jar: `Waystone-Release-7.7-26.2.x.jar` - Still 26.2.x only, like every v6.x/v7.x releaseNaming
Release-7.6-26.2.xWaystones Release-7.6-26.2.xAug 9, 2026 Version 7.6 — Companions, combat safety, more maps, custom icons
The biggest release since custom dimensions: four independent additions bundled together, none of which touch how teleportation itself works.
Bring your companions along
- Tamed animals and leashed pets within a configurable radius now teleport with you, not just your character - Your current mount (horse, donkey, strider...) is teleported first and you're placed back on it automatically - Newpet-teleport-radiussetting inconfig.yml(default: 6 blocks, set to 0 to disable)Combat safety
- Players who took damage recently can no longer teleport (menu or/waystone tp) until a configurable delay has passed — no more escaping a fight through a waystone - Newcombat-protection-secondssetting inconfig.yml(default: 10 seconds, set to 0 to disable) - Server admins (waystones.admin) are never affected, same as the existing cooldownBlueMap and Squaremap support
- Following v7.5's Dynmap integration, waystones can now also appear on BlueMap and Squaremap, independently of each other and of Dynmap - Same behavior as Dynmap: a dedicated "Waystones" layer, colored by dimension, zero setup if you don't use these maps - Newbluemap-enabledandsquaremap-enabledsettings inconfig.yml, alongside the existingdynmap-enabledItemsAdder / Oraxen icons
-/waystone seticonand/waystone setcategoryiconnow accept custom items from ItemsAdder (itemsadder:namespace:id) and Oraxen (oraxen:item_id), in addition to vanilla materials - Falls back cleanly to the default icon if the plugin isn't installed or the item no longer exists
- Major version bump (7.5 → 7.6) — four independent additions bundled into one release, comparable in scope to v7.0 - Generated jar: `Waystone-Release-7.6-26.2.x.jar` - Still 26.2.x only, like every v6.x/v7.x releaseNaming
Release-7.5-26.2.xWaystones Release-7.5-26.2.xAug 9, 2026 Version 7.5 — Dynmap support
A long-standing gap among Waystones-style plugins closes: your teleportation points can now show up right on your web map.
Optional Dynmap integration
- If [Dynmap](https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/dynmap%C2%AE.274/) is installed and enabled on your server, every waystone now gets a marker on a dedicated "Waystones" layer on the web map — toggleable by players like any other Dynmap layer - Marker color follows the same logic already used in-game: green for the Overworld, red for the Nether, purple for the End - Clicking a marker shows the waystone's name and its description, if it has one (the same description set via/waystone setdescription) - Zero setup required: if Dynmap isn't installed, this integration does nothing at all — no error, no extra config, the plugin behaves exactly as before - Newdynmap-enabled: truesetting inconfig.yml, in case you'd rather keep Dynmap installed for other plugins without exposing waystones on itNew command: per-waystone map visibility
- `/waystone setmapvisible <name> <enabled|disabled>` — hide a specific waystone from the map without removing it or touching its visibility in the in-game menu (handy for a secret base you don't want shown publicly) - Every waystone is visible on the map by default, matching how every other visibility setting in the plugin defaults to "on"How it stays in sync
- Markers update instantly on creation, removal, and renaming — no delay, no periodic refresh task running in the background - The map is fully populated once at plugin startup from existing waystones, then kept in sync purely through these events from that point on
- Minor version bump (7.4 → 7.5) — a self-contained addition, doesn't touch teleportation, permissions, or existing commands - Generated jar: `Waystone-Release-7.5-26.2.x.jar` - Still 26.2.x only, like every v6.x/v7.x releaseNaming
Release-7.4-26.2.xWaystones Release-7.4-26.2.xAug 9, 2026 Version 7.4 — Internal refactor, no functional changes
Not every release adds a feature — this one is about paying down some technical debt behind the scenes, so future updates ship faster and more safely.
What changed under the hood
- Config-writing logic (used by the language setting, category names/icons/descriptions, command toggles, and the glint setting) was duplicated across 4 different places in the code — now centralized into a single shared utility - Permission and argument checks, repeated across all 17/waystonesubcommands, now go through small shared helpers instead of being copy-pasted in every handler - Waystone lookups by name and by block location now use direct index lookups instead of scanning every waystone on the server — no visible difference at today's scale, but scales better as server waystone counts grow - The teleport cooldown tracker now clears a player's entry when they disconnect, instead of holding onto it indefinitelyWhat didn't change
- Every command, permission, message, and behavior works exactly as before — this release touches internals only - Noconfig.ymlorwaystones.ymlformat changes, no migration needed, safe to update directly
- Minor version bump (7.3 → 7.4) — internal cleanup, no new feature - Generated jar: `Waystone-Release-7.4-26.2.x.jar` - Still 26.2.x only, like every v6.x/v7.x releaseNaming
Release-7.3-26.2.xWaystones Release-7.3-26.2.xAug 4, 2026 Version 7.3 — Custom dimensions goes stable, FastStats added
After weeks in Alpha and real-world testing with positive community feedback, custom dimensions support graduates to a stable Release. Plus a new analytics partner joins the mix.
Custom dimensions: Alpha → Release
- The in-chat warning shown to players on join is gone — custom dimensions have proven stable through actual use - No functional changes tocreatecategory, removecategory, setcategory, orsetglint— same commands, same safety guarantees (the server's primary Overworld/Nether/End can still never be hijacked, categories still only appear once they contain a waystone, orphaned categories are still handled gracefully) - This is a trust milestone, not a feature change: the underlying system has been solid since v7.0, this release just reflects that it's been proven outFastStats added alongside bStats
- [FastStats](https://faststats.dev/project/waystones/minecraft-plugin) now runs in parallel with bStats for anonymous error tracking — catching bugs before they turn into support tickets - Like bStats, it's fully opt-out server-side (plugins/faststats/config.properties,enabled=false) - No personal data collected; the first server start after updating is silent (writes the config file and waits for a restart before sending anything, giving admins time to opt out if they choose)
- Same version number, prefix changed from Alpha to Release (7.3 → 7.3) - Generated jar: `Waystone-Release-7.3-26.2.x.jar` - Still 26.2.x only, like every v6.x/v7.x releaseNaming
Alpha-7.2-26.2.xWaystones Alpha-7.2-26.2.xAug 1, 2026 Version 7.2-Alpha — Translation completeness fix
A community bug report led to a real find — worth documenting honestly rather than glossing over.
What was found and fixed
While preparing in-game screenshots for the Modrinth gallery, it turned out that 12 out of 30 languages (Bulgarian, Czech, Hungarian, Japanese, Georgian, Korean, Lithuanian, Polish, Romanian, Slovak, Serbian Latin, Swahili) were each missing 48 translation keys that every other language already had — covering menu lore lines (teleport counts, click prompts, waystone details), navigation buttons, and command usage/help messages. Anyone running the plugin in one of these 12 languages would have seen a mix of their language and stray untranslated text in those specific spots. What changed
- All 48 missing keys translated and added to the 12 affected languages - Automated cross-check confirming all 30 language files now share the exact same 109 keys, with zero gaps between what the code calls and what the language files provide
- Minor version bump (7.1 → 7.2) - Generated jar: `Waystone-Alpha-7.2-26.2.x.jar` - Still Alpha, same reasoning as the rest of v7.xNaming
Alpha-7.1-26.2.xWaystones Alpha-7.1-26.2.xAug 1, 2026 Version 7.1-Alpha — bStats visibility
More insight into how Waystones is actually used, and why that data matters — both delivered together.
What changed
14 new anonymous bStats charts, each reporting an aggregate state (yes/no, enabled/disabled, or a count bucket) — the same privacy-safe approach already used for the existing language chart: - Whether custom dimensions (v7) are in use - Whether category names, icons, or descriptions have been customized - Whether waystone icons or descriptions have been customized - Whether thelistandtpcommands are enabled - Whether the custom dimension glow effect is enabled - Whether the teleport cooldown and teleport effects are enabled - Whether the update checker is enabled - How many waystones exist (bucketed: 0, 1-5, 6-20, 21-50, 50+) - How many custom dimension categories exist (bucketed: 0, 1-3, 4-10, 10+) Alongside these charts, admins now see a one-time message explaining why anonymous bStats statistics matter to the project — shown to the first admin who joins after the plugin has just been updated, and never repeated until the next real update. The plugin tracks its own version across restarts (a smalllast-seen-version.txtfile) to tell a genuine update apart from a simple server restart.
- Minor version bump (7.0 → 7.1) - Generated jar: `Waystone-Alpha-7.1-26.2.x.jar` - Still Alpha, following the same line-wide status as the rest of v7.x until custom dimensions graduate to ReleaseNaming
Alpha-7.0-26.2.xWaystones Alpha-7.0-26.2.xAug 1, 2026 Version 7.0-Alpha — "The Emergence of Custom Dimensions"
After weeks of research, planning, and a few honest detours, the plugin's most requested and most carefully-designed feature is finally here — in Alpha, and worth reading the fine print before diving in.
The big idea
Server admins can now link Waystones categories to dimensions created by third-party plugins (DimensionControl, Multiverse-Core, or anything else that adds a world) — no automatic guessing, no scanning, no fragile detection. The admin declares the link explicitly, and Waystones takes it from there.New commands (all admin-only)
- `/waystone createcategory <key> <world>` — links a new category to an existing, loaded world. Refuses if the world doesn't exist, is already linked, or is the server's own primary Overworld/Nether/End (protects the built-in categories from being hijacked) - `/waystone removecategory <key>` — removes a category, blocked if waystones still exist inside it (never deletes data silently) - `/waystone create <name> [@material] [#category]` — the new#categorysuffix is a safety check, not a free choice: it confirms the category matches the world you're actually standing in - `/waystone setcategory <name> <key|reset>` — verifies/confirms a waystone's category against its real world - `/waystone setglint <enabled|disabled>` — toggles the subtle glow shown on custom dimension iconsHow it looks in the menu
- Row 3 stays empty as a visual buffer between the fixed categories and the custom ones - Custom dimension categories start on row 4, centered using the exact same pattern as Overworld/Nether/End (1, 2, or 3 per row) - A category only appears once it actually contains a waystone — same rule as the fixed categories - Valid custom categories get a subtle glow (Paper's officialenchantment_glint_override, not the old fake-enchantment trick), which persists even with a custom icon - If a custom dimension's world gets unloaded or deleted later, its category doesn't vanish or break — it turns grey and shows "world unavailable," visible to admins only, with the underlying data always kept safe
Every player sees a red warning in chat on join for as long as this stays in Alpha: custom dimension support is new, experimental, and may contain bugs. Back up your world before relying on it. This warning (and this whole notice) will disappear once the feature graduates to a stable Release. This is an Alpha, read this part
- Major version bump (6.7 → 7.0) — first substantial new capability since the compatibility roadmap wrapped up, and the first ever Alpha-prefixed release for this plugin - Generated jar: `Waystone-Alpha-7.0-26.2.x.jar` - Like every v6.x/v7.x release, this only concerns the 26.2.x lineNaming
6.7-26.2.xWaystones 6.7-26.2.xJul 28, 2026 Version 6.7 — Glowing update icon
A small addition born straight out of planning the next major feature — sometimes exploring what's next surfaces quick wins for today.
What changed
- The info icon (redstone block) in the main menu now glows whenever a plugin update is available, on top of the existing red lore line - Uses the same officialenchantment_glint_overrideAPI (Paper's modern data-component approach) explored while designing an upcoming feature — not the old fake-enchantment-plus-hidden-flag trick, which had known glint-disappearing bugs - No new setting: the glow simply follows the existing update-available state, always on when relevant, always off otherwise
- Minor version bump (6.6 → 6.7) — tiny, self-contained addition - Generated jar: `Waystone-6.7-26.2.x.jar` - Like v6.0 through v6.6, this version only concerns the 26.2.x lineNaming
6.6-26.2.xWaystones 6.6-26.2.xJul 27, 2026 Version 6.6 — Discord icon
A quick way for players to find the support Discord, right from the main menu.
New feature
- A new Lectern icon appears in the top-right corner of the main menu, next to the info icon - Clicking it closes the menu and sends a clickable link in chat to join the official Waystones Discord server - The icon's lore invites players to add their Minecraft server's name to their Discord nickname, making it easier for the community to know where everyone comes fromReliability
- The Discord invite link is a hardcoded constant in the plugin code, the same way the Modrinth project ID and bStats ID already are — not aconfig.ymlsetting. This is intentional: it's the plugin's official support channel, not something a server admin should be able to silently redirect by editing a text file - 3 new keys added across all 30 languages, automated cross-check confirming 44 identical keys in every file
- Minor version bump (6.5 → 6.6) — small standalone addition - Generated jar: `Waystone-6.6-26.2.x.jar` - Like v6.0 through v6.5, this version only concerns the 26.2.x lineNaming
6.5-26.2.xWaystones 6.5-26.2.xJul 22, 2026 Version 6.5 — Togglable list & tp commands
Server admins can now enable or disable the
listandtpcommands to fit how they want their server run.New command
- `/waystone setcommand <list|tp> <enabled|disabled>` — toggles either command on or off - Also acceptstrue/falseandon/offas synonyms for the stateHow it works
- A disabled command shows a clear "this command is disabled" message instead of running - Disabled commands also disappear from the in-game help (/waystonewith no arguments) and from tab-completion, so players don't stumble onto a command that won't work - The main menu (/waystone) keeps working normally regardless of these two settings — this only affects the standalonelistandtpcommands - Setting stored inconfig.yml(command-list-enabled,command-tp-enabled) via the same targeted-write approach used for every other customization, so comments are never lostReliability
- 5 new keys added across all 30 languages, automated cross-check confirming 41 identical keys in every file
- Minor version bump (6.4 → 6.5) — new configuration option, same pattern as previous minor releases - Generated jar: `Waystone-6.5-26.2.x.jar` - Like v6.0 through v6.4, this version only concerns the 26.2.x lineNaming
6.4-26.2.xWaystones 6.4-26.2.xJul 22, 2026 Version 6.4 — 18 new languages
The plugin jumps from 12 to 30 supported languages in one go.
New languages
Western & Central Europe / Americas: Icelandic (is), Hungarian (hu), Romanian (ro), Czech (cs), Slovak (sk), Polish (pl) Eastern Europe, Caucasus, Africa & Asia: Ukrainian (uk), Belarusian (be), Estonian (et), Latvian (lv), Lithuanian (lt), Serbian Latin (sr-latn), Bulgarian (bg), Georgian (ka), Swahili (sw), Indonesian (id), Japanese (ja), Korean (ko)Notable choices
- Serbian: the Latin script (sr-latn) was chosen over Cyrillic, since it's more common in everyday digital use, even though both have equal constitutional status in Serbia - Non-Latin scripts (Cyrillic for uk/be/bg, Georgian for ka, Japanese for ja, Korean for ko): no encoding or in-game rendering concerns — all six are officially supported by Minecraft's own font system - A few languages were considered and deliberately left out: "Australian" and "Canadian" English/French (already covered byen/fr/fr-ca), "Mexican" Spanish (already covered byes), Guarani and Quechua (not part of Minecraft's own officially supported language list, which was the bar set for this batch)Reliability
- Automated cross-check confirming all 30 language files share the exact same 36 keys, none missing - The "invalid language" error message was shortened across all 12 previously-existing languages — spelling out 30 language codes inline had become unreadable, so it now simply points to the plugin's Modrinth page for the full list
- Minor version bump (6.3 → 6.4) — extending the existing language system, same pattern as v6.2 - Generated jar: `Waystone-6.4-26.2.x.jar` - Like v6.0/6.1/6.2/6.3, this version only concerns the 26.2.x lineNaming
6.3-26.2.xWaystones 6.3-26.2.xJul 22, 2026 Version 6.3 — Customizable descriptions
Add a small descriptive note to any waystone or menu category.
New commands
- `/waystone setdescription <name> <text|reset>` — describes an existing waystone - `/waystone setcategorydescription <overworld|nether|end> <text|reset>` — describes a menu categoryHow it works
- The|character separates lines (multi-line descriptions supported) -&color codes work just like everywhere else in the plugin -reset(or no text) removes the description - The description shows up in the icon's lore, after the existing info (world/coordinates/owner for a waystone, count for a category) - Smart name recognition: since waystone names can contain spaces, the command tries the longest possible name first against existing waystones, no quotes neededReliability
- Storage: newdescriptionfield inwaystones.yml, newcategory-description-*keys inconfig.yml, same targeted-write approach as the other customizations - All 12 languages kept in sync, automated cross-check confirming 36 identical keys in every file
- Minor version bump (6.2 → 6.3) — extending existing customization features - Generated jar: `Waystone-6.3-26.2.x.jar` - Like v6.0/6.1/6.2, this version only concerns the 26.2.x lineNaming
6.2-26.2.xWaystones 6.2-26.2.xJul 21, 2026 Version 6.2 — 8 new languages
The plugin goes from 4 to 12 supported languages.
New languages
-Spanish (
es) -Portugal Portuguese (
pt-pt, distinct from the already-existing Brazilian Portuguese) -Norwegian Bokmål (
nb) -Swedish (
sv) -Finnish (
fi) -Italian (
it) -Dutch (
nl) -German (
de) Each language file fully translates the plugin's 32 keys (in-game messages, menus, categories, icons, update checker), with an automated cross-check confirming no key is missing in any language.
These 8 translations were produced by AI (no native review like for French/English/Brazilian Portuguese/Québec French). The general meaning should be correct, but a review by a native speaker is recommended before heavy production use.Heads-up
- Minor version bump (6.1 → 6.2) — extending the existing language system - Generated jar: `Waystone-6.2-26.2.x.jar` - Like v6.0/6.1, this version only concerns the 26.2.x lineNaming
6.1-26.2.xWaystones 6.1-26.2.xJul 21, 2026 Version 6.1 — Customizable icons
Pick the block shown for each waystone and each menu category yourself.
New commands
- `/waystone create <name> [@material]` — optional material right at creation - `/waystone seticon <name> @<material|reset>` — changes an existing waystone's icon - `/waystone setcategoryicon <overworld|nether|end> <material|reset>` — changes a menu category's iconReliability
- Strict validation: invalid material = command rejected, nothing changed - Safe automatic fallback to the default icon if a stored material becomes invalid (e.g. removed in a future Minecraft version) — never crashes - Storage: newcustom-iconfield inwaystones.yml, newcategory-icon-*keys inconfig.yml, same targeted-write approach as category names
- Minor version bump (6.0 → 6.1) — extending an existing feature, not a substantial novelty - Generated jar: `Waystone-6.1-26.2.x.jar` - Like v6.0, this version only concerns the 26.2.x lineNaming
6.0-26.2.xWaystones 6.0-26.2.xJul 20, 2026 Version 6.0 — Customizable categories & improved update tracking
Two significant new features, built after wrapping up the compatibility roadmap: the project keeps improving on substance, not just on compatibility.
- New command `/waystone setcategoryname <overworld|nether|end> <name|reset>` (admin) - Customize the display of the 3 main menu categories to fit your server's theme (e.g. "Nether" → "Underworld") -Menu category renaming
reset(or no name provided) restores the category to its default translated name - Stored inconfig.ymlwith targeted writes, same as the language setting: never a full file rewrite
- Periodic checks in addition to the startup check — configurable interval viaImproved update checker
update-check-interval-hours(12h by default) - New "up to date" state tracked separately from "update available": -Red line in the info icon if an update exists -
Green "up to date" line if the last check confirms everything is fine - Nothing at all until a check has succeeded at least once (avoids showing a false confirmation) - On network failure, the last known state is kept rather than flickering with every connectivity hiccup
- Major version bump (5.2 → 6.0), per the studio's rule (significant new features) - Generated jar: `Waystone-6.0-26.2.x.jar` - Other Minecraft version lines (1.12.x → 26.1.x) intentionally remain on the v5.2 feature set, with no backport plannedNaming
5.2-26.2.xWaystones 5.2-26.2.xJul 19, 2026 Version 5.2 — 26.2.x port (complete roadmap!)
Waystones now runs on 26.2.x, the current Minecraft version — and now covers every officially supported version, from 1.12.2 to today.
- No code changes were needed — Spigot confirms no API breakage since 26.1 - No new JDK change — Java 25 remains sufficient - Tested and validated under real conditions on a test server (Falix) - No feature added or changed, hence why the version number stays 5.2Adapting to the 26.2 API
Generated jar: `Waystone-5.2-26.2.x.jar`Naming
Twelve distinct jars, a single codebase, zero functional regressions: | Minecraft line | JDK required | |---|---| | 1.12.x → 1.16.x | Java 8 | | 1.17.x → 1.19.x | Java 17 | | 1.20.x → 1.21.x | Java 21 | | 26.1.x → 26.2.x | Java 25 | Three JDK changes, two build tooling updates (Full roadmap summary
maven-shade-plugin), a handful of block/sound renames fixed along the way — and the language system, bStats, and update checker built in v4/v5 never needed to be touched.5.2-26.1.xWaystones 5.2-26.1.xJul 19, 2026 Version 5.2 — 26.1.x port
Waystones now runs under Minecraft's new year-based numbering (26.1.x) — same plugin, same features.
- Third JDK change in the roadmap: now compiled with Java 25, required starting with 26.1 - No business-logic code changes — Spigot itself confirms no significant API breakage since 1.21.11 - Build tooling update (again):Adapting to the 26.1 API
maven-shade-pluginbumped from 3.5.1 to 3.6.2, since Java 25 bytecode support was only added in 3.6.1 - Tested and validated under real conditions on a test server (Falix) - No feature added or changed, hence why the version number stays 5.2
Generated jar: `Waystone-5.2-26.1.x.jar` (coexists with the 1.12.x → 1.21.x jars)Naming
5.2-1.21.xWaystones 5.2-1.21.xJul 19, 2026 Version 5.2 — 1.21.x port
Waystones now also runs on Minecraft 1.21.x (Tricky Trials), up to and including 1.21.11 — same plugin, same features.
- No code changes were needed - No new JDK change — Java 21 remains sufficient across the whole 1.21.x line - Tested and validated under real conditions on a test server (Falix) - No feature added or changed, hence why the version number stays 5.2Adapting to the 1.21 API
Generated jar: `Waystone-5.2-1.21.x.jar` (coexists with the 1.12.x → 1.20.x jars)Naming
This is the last version ported under the oldEnd of classic numbering
1.X.Yscheme. The next step will follow the new year-based numbering (26.1.x,26.2.x) adopted by Mojang in late 2025.5.2-1.20.xWaystones 5.2-1.20.xJul 19, 2026 Version 5.2 — 1.20.x port
Waystones now also runs on Minecraft 1.20.x (Trails & Tales), up to and including 1.20.6 — same plugin, same features.
- Second JDK change in the roadmap: now compiled with Java 21, required starting with 1.20.5 (a requirement Mojang tightened mid version-line) - The much-discussed item component rework in 1.20.5/1.20.6 ultimately required no business-logic code changes — theAdapting to the 1.20 API
setDisplayName/setLoremethods Waystones relies on remain functional (deprecated but not removed) - Build tooling update:maven-shade-pluginbumped from 3.4.1 to 3.5.1, since the older version couldn't parse Java 21 bytecode - Tested and validated under real conditions on a test server (Falix) - No feature added or changed, hence why the version number stays 5.2
Generated jar: `Waystone-5.2-1.20.x.jar` (coexists with the 1.12.x → 1.19.x jars)Naming
5.2-1.19.xWaystones 5.2-1.19.xJul 19, 2026 Version 5.2 — 1.19.x port
Waystones now also runs on Minecraft 1.19.x (The Wild Update) — same plugin, same features.
- No code changes were needed — the Wild Update added mangrove, warden, sculk, and the deep dark without touching any block/sound already used by Waystones - No new JDK change — Java 17 remains sufficient - Tested and validated under real conditions on a test server (Falix) - No feature added or changed, hence why the version number stays 5.2Adapting to the 1.19 API
Generated jar: `Waystone-5.2-1.19.x.jar` (coexists with the 1.12.x → 1.18.x jars)Naming
The next step (1.20.x) includes a real item API rework in 1.20.5/1.20.6 (component system) — the first step since 1.13 where a deeper code change is genuinely expected.Heads-up for what's next
5.2-1.18.xWaystones 5.2-1.18.xJul 19, 2026 Version 5.2 — 1.18.x port
Waystones now also runs on Minecraft 1.18.x (Caves & Cliffs II) — same plugin, same features.
- No code changes were needed — 1.18 mainly concerns world generation (height, caves) and doesn't touch any block/sound used by Waystones - No new JDK change — Java 17 remains sufficient - Tested and validated under real conditions on a test server (Falix) - No feature added or changed, hence why the version number stays 5.2Adapting to the 1.18 API
Generated jar: `Waystone-5.2-1.18.x.jar` (coexists with the 1.12.x → 1.17.x jars)Naming
5.2-1.17.xWaystones 5.2-1.17.xJul 19, 2026 Version 5.2 — 1.17.x port
Waystones now also runs on Minecraft 1.17.x (Caves & Cliffs I) — same plugin, same features.
- First JDK change in the whole roadmap: now compiled with Java 17 (Java 16 minimum required by Minecraft 1.17, unavailable on Homebrew as a non-LTS version — Java 17 LTS used instead) - No business-logic code changes were needed — 1.17 mainly added new content (copper, amethyst, deepslate) without touching blocks/sounds already used by Waystones - Tested and validated under real conditions on a test server (Falix) - No feature added or changed, hence why the version number stays 5.2Adapting to the 1.17 API
Generated jar: `Waystone-5.2-1.17.x.jar` (coexists with the 1.12.x → 1.16.x jars)Naming

Waystones now also runs on Minecraft 1.16.x (Nether Update) — same plugin, same features.
- No code changes were needed — the Nether Update mainly added new blocks (netherite, blackstone, basalt, crimson/warped wood) without renaming anything Waystones already used - Tested and validated under real conditions on a test server (Falix) - No feature added or changed, hence why the version number stays 5.2Adapting to the 1.16 API

Last roadmap version buildable with Java 8 — 1.17.x will require the first JDK change of the whole roadmap.

The plugin now supports two new languages and ships with anonymous usage statistics.
| Language | Code | Note | |:---:|:---:|---| |Two new languages
Portuguese (Brazil) |
pt-br| New | |French (Québec) |
fr-ca| Genuinely distinctive vocabulary and phrasing, not just a variant of standard French | Updated command:/waystone setlang <fr|en|pt-br|fr-ca>
What's collected - Only global, anonymous trends: server count, versions, language usage breakdown (fr / en / pt-br / fr-ca) - No personal or identifiable data How it's integrated - The bStats code is compiled and bundled into the jar, like the rest of the plugin — not editable, no external file specific to Waystones - Can be globally disabled by the admin viabStats statistics

4.0-1.12.xWaystones 4.0-1.12.xJul 9, 2026 Version 4.0
The plugin now speaks two languages — French and English, admin's choice.
- Added French / English support, with English as the default language on a fresh install - New `/waystone setlang <fr|en>` command (admin) to change the language on the fly, without restarting the server - Without an argument,Language system
/waystone setlangshows the currently active language - Automatic fallback to English if a text is missing in a language
- Plugin texts are now built into the jar and not editable — no more message files that could be broken by accidental edits - Only behavior settings (Text reliability
language,teleport-cooldown-seconds,effects-enabled) remain configurable inconfig.yml
- An existingUpdating from a previous version
config.yml(v1 to v3) is migrated automatically and smoothly: thelanguagekey is added without touching the rest of the file — no comment or custom setting is lost - The oldmessages.*block, if present, stays in place but is no longer used; a console message notifies the admin on startup
- New plugin naming convention: `Waystone-<version>-<Minecraft version>.jar` (e.g.Naming

Complete overhaul of how the plugin works — block placement gives way to a fully command/menu-based system.
- Command-based creation:New features
/waystone create <name>instantly creates a point at the player's position, no item to place - Menu sorted by world: pick a category — Overworld, Nether, End — before the list of matching points is shown - Added `/waystone tp <name>` for direct teleportation via command
- Creating, renaming, and removing points is now restricted to admins (Management & permissions
waystones.admin) - All players (waystones.use) can browse the menu and teleport freely - Admins are no longer subject to the teleport cooldown
