    [1.5.0] - 2026-07-14

    Added
    - Added optional PlaceholderAPI integration through a bundled internal expansion. PlaceholderAPI remains a soft dependency, so xApocalypse still loads normally when it is absent. - Added %xapocalypse_bloodmoon_days_left% for the whole number of in-game days until the next natural Blood Moon. It returns 0 while a Blood Moon is active or due that day. - Added %xapocalypse_zombie_guts_duration% for the active player's remaining Zombie Guts duration in whole seconds, returning 0 when inactive. - Added %xapocalypse_current_scent% for the active player's live scent value, returning 0 when no player context or scent is available. - Added a configurable vanilla sound when a natural or forced Blood Moon begins. It is played to online players in enabled and lobby worlds. - Added a configurable proximity sound after every successful Mutant spawn, including guaranteed Blood Moon, periodic Blood Moon, and admin-command spawns. - Added sound controls for enablement, Bukkit sound name, volume, and pitch. Mutant sounds also support a configurable hearing radius. - Added a dedicated PlaceholderAPI documentation page and updated the README and configuration reference for the new features.
    Configuration
    - Added bloodmoon.start-sound.enabled (default true). - Added bloodmoon.start-sound.name (default ENTITY_WITHER_SPAWN). - Added bloodmoon.start-sound.volume (default 1.0). - Added bloodmoon.start-sound.pitch (default 0.7). - Added mythicmobs.integration.spawn-sound.enabled (default true). - Added mythicmobs.integration.spawn-sound.name (default ENTITY_ENDER_DRAGON_GROWL). - Added mythicmobs.integration.spawn-sound.volume (default 1.0). - Added mythicmobs.integration.spawn-sound.pitch (default 0.8). - Added mythicmobs.integration.spawn-sound.radius (default 48.0 blocks). - Existing installations receive these missing keys through the automatic configuration synchronizer. Administrators do not need to delete or regenerate config.yml; existing settings and comments are preserved. - Invalid configured sound names are skipped safely and reported in the server log instead of preventing the plugin from loading.
    Changed
    - Added PlaceholderAPI 2.11.6 as a compile-time-only dependency and declared PlaceholderAPI in plugin.yml as a soft dependency. - Blood Moon day calculations and Zombie Guts remaining-time access are now exposed as read-only manager APIs for integrations. - Mutant spawn audio is emitted from the shared successful-spawn path, ensuring consistent behavior across every supported spawn source. - Updated all current release badges, help text, installation examples, artifact names, and resource headers to version 1.5.0.
    Fixed
    - Improved Minecraft attribute resolution across Paper 1.21 API variants. xApocalypse now tries modern registry keys, legacy namespaced keys, and reflective legacy attribute fields before reporting a missing attribute.
    Compatibility and upgrade notes
    - Requires Java 21 and a server compatible with Bukkit/Paper API 1.21, matching previous releases. - GriefPrevention, MythicMobs, and PlaceholderAPI integrations are all optional. - PlaceholderAPI values requiring player state return 0 when parsed without a player context. - Sound triggers use vanilla Bukkit sound names only; custom resource-pack sound keys are not supported in this release.

    xApocalypse 1.4.3 — Performance & Polish Update

Version 1.4.3 closes the remaining minor findings from the full xApocalypse code audit, focusing on performance, cleanup, compatibility, and small player-facing issues.

    Performance improvements

    - Combined custom zombie AI and distance-based LOD management into a single world scan. - Removed the second full zombie iteration that previously ran every half-second. - Corrected distant custom AI timing so it runs at the intended reduced interval. - Preserved reliable AI enable/disable transitions as players approach or leave zombies. - Improved AI restoration during plugin reloads and shutdowns. - Cached frequently accessed zombie-class behavior settings instead of repeatedly reading the configuration during AI ticks. - Cached settings are refreshed automatically with /xa reload.

    Zombie and spawning cleanup

    - Removed unused player-based UndeadSpawner methods. - Removed the associated UUID tracking map that could otherwise retain unnecessary player data. - Invalid or outdated stored zombie-class tags are now handled safely instead of potentially throwing an error. - Removed redundant item metadata access when creating Frost zombie armor. - Spitter target checks now safely handle world changes.

    Zombie Guts and scent fixes

    - Fixed dual-wielded Zombie Guts producing a second “already immune” message. - Main-hand activation is now prioritized when Guts are held in both hands. - Player scent state is removed when the player leaves, preventing unnecessary offline entries.

    Compatibility improvements

    - Replaced deprecated attribute enum constants with registry-backed Minecraft attribute references. - Updated baby-zombie filtering to use the modern Ageable adult-state check. - Retained compatibility with the existing Minecraft 1.21 plugin target.

    Message handling

    - Replaced the loose MiniMessage detection heuristic with proper tag-pattern detection. - Plain messages containing < or # are no longer mistakenly treated as MiniMessage. - Invalid MiniMessage components now fall back safely to legacy formatting.

    Release metadata

    - Updated the plugin manifest, Maven build, default configuration, localization file, README, installation instructions, and wiki pages to version 1.4.3.

xApocalypse 1.4.2 — Stability & Integration Update Version 1.4.2 fixes the remaining moderate gameplay, configuration, and reload-state issues identified during the full plugin audit.

    Zombie AI fixes

    - Bursters now continuously check their distance from their target, allowing their fuse to activate when players approach after initial targeting. - Active Burster fuses and glowing effects are safely cleared during reloads and shutdowns. - Webber cobwebs now respect GriefPrevention claims. - Temporary Webber cobwebs are restored correctly during reloads and shutdowns. - Player-placed replacement cobwebs are no longer incorrectly removed by delayed cleanup. - Runners now receive the configured Blood Moon speed multiplier. - The fallback NORMAL zombie type is no longer silently included in the weighted custom class pool. - Negative zombie class weights are safely ignored.

    Zombie Guts and scent fixes

    - Zombie Guts immunity now works against all Zombie subclasses, including Husks and Drowned. - Scent behavior is now consistent across enabled and lobby worlds. - Continuous sprint scent uses the player’s live sprint state, preventing stale sprint tracking between worlds. - Jump and kill scent now follow the same world eligibility rules. - Invalid scent limits, decay intervals, and gain values are safely normalized. - Disabling the scent system during a reload now properly stops its existing tasks.

    Claims, reloads, and configuration

    - GriefPrevention hook settings now update correctly with /xa reload. - Disabling the GriefPrevention hook no longer leaves its previous state active. - Invalid scheduler intervals, spawn radii, horde sizes, spawn chances, zombie limits, and related configuration values are safely bounded. - Reload cleanup now reverses temporary gameplay effects before scheduled tasks are cancelled.

    MythicMobs boss rewards

xApocalypse no longer processes custom drops, commands, broadcasts, or economy rewards for Mutant bosses. MythicMobs is now the sole handler for boss drops and rewards, preventing duplicate payouts and conflicts between the two systems. The retired mythicmobs.integration.rewards section is automatically removed from existing xApocalypse configurations during reload. Regular zombie and Blood Moon drop tables remain fully supported. #

Version 1.4.1 is a major bug-fix release focused on reliable apocalypse events and safer server integration. This release fixes Blood Moon synchronization across multiple worlds, restart and reload recovery, natural event timing, unloaded-entity cleanup, and incorrect Blood Moon state persistence. MythicMobs integration has been hardened: Mutants are no longer cancelled or rewritten by xApocalypse zombie logic, invalid mob definitions disable cleanly, global caps survive restarts more reliably, and Blood Moon Mutants are cleaned up correctly. Spawning has also received major fixes: GriefPrevention claims are respected by automatic hordes. Nether spawning no longer targets the bedrock ceiling. Spawn caps are checked before hordes are created. Secondary worlds use their own day/night clocks. Natural mob blacklist/whitelist behavior now matches configuration. The performance watchdog no longer culls or freezes unrelated zombies, NPCs, or MythicMobs entities. Reward handling is safer as well. Zombie Guts, custom drops, and economy commands no longer function as farming exploits in disabled or lobby worlds, and Mutant rewards are separated from ordinary zombie rewards. The release also includes safer command validation, improved reload cleanup, restored AI state handling, and updated documentation/configuration for 1.4.1.
